Former Wexford Camogie minor and Electric Ireland ambassador, Ursula Jacob, looks ahead to the Electric Ireland Camogie Minor All-Ireland Championships finals, which take place this weekend.
Electric Ireland has also announced today that it will be live streaming this weekend’s Electric Ireland Camogie Minor A, A Shield, B and C All-Ireland Championships finals.
Electric Ireland ambassador and former Wexford Camogie star, Ursula Jacob, spoke on the importance of live-streaming this weekend’s finals: “I think it’s just fantastic to be honest. The more exposure we get out there of the game of camogie the better for the game overall. The standard is gone so high right across the board… the preparation, the work, the organisation, the professionalism that goes into training minor camogie teams has gone through the roof, so I think it’s just fantastic we’re now getting to see the very best players at underage level play in these finals."
"I’m expecting some really great finals and, in particular, the Cork v Waterford game in the Minor A final, I think that’s really going to be a brilliant and intriguing game.”
Electric Ireland looks forward to celebrating the incredible achievements of these camogie players later in year when they will recognise the recipients of the first-ever Electric Ireland Camogie Minor Star Awards. This announcement will be made on Tuesday, 6 June 2023.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s finals action, Sarah Sharkey, Group Sponsorship & PR Manager Electric Ireland, commented: “We, at Electric Ireland, would like to wish all the players taking part in each of this weekend’s finals the very best of luck. As the Camogie Minor season draws to a close, we look forward to celebrating some of Camogie’s brightest stars later in the summer when we announce the Electric Ireland Camogie Minor Star Award winners.”
Jacobs also reiterated how important it is to support this weekend’s camogie action: “These girls who are playing at the weekend, they are the future of camogie. They are going to be representing their counties at adult level and wouldn’t it be great to say that you got to see them at minor level?"
"I’d encourage as many people as possible to get out and support the girls this weekend, because they deserve that support. These games are going to be brilliant.”
