Those are the words of boxing promoter Eddie Hearn and it’s hard to argue otherwise.
On Saturday, May 2, the undisputed 135-pound champion Katie Taylor will take on the seven-division World champion Amanda Serrano of Puerto Rico - the most highly anticipated women’s fight ever.
Taylor (15-0, 6 KOs) will put her status as the undisputed World lightweight champion on the line against the decorated Puerto Rican, Amanda Serrano (38-1-1, 28 KOs) in Manchester.
Speaking after the fight was announced, Taylor said, "It's a fight that seems to have been talked about for years so I'm just glad it's finally on.”
All four of Taylor’s lightweight belts will be on the line.
In June 2019, Taylor edged Belgium's Delfine Persoon to become the undisputed lightweight champion. Taylor’s victory saw her add the WBC lightweight belt to her IBF, WBO and WBA titles - the final piece of the jigsaw.
The Bray-woman then became a two-weight World champion in November when she defeated Greece's Christina Linardatou. Victory saw her become only the third Irish boxer, male and female, to win a World title at two different weight classes.
Now Taylor will put her lightweight belts on the line but it is so much more than that. This is for the greatest female boxer of all time.
Her opponent Amanda Serrano will pose the biggest threat to Taylor’s unbeaten professional record to date. She has has won 24 fights on the spin and holds an impressive 70 percent knockout rate.
Serrano has earned World titles at super-flyweight, bantamweight, super-bantamweight, featherweight, super-featherweight, lightweight and light-welterweight.
Speaking ahead of the fight, Serrano said, "I'm happy we finally got this big fight made because both myself and Katie deserve to be in this position.”
"While our fight could have been a main event, I'm still grateful it's happening.”
"I'm not going to talk down to Katie, as I know she won't to me, so I'll leave it at this: one thing that's for sure is that we'll both leave it all in the ring."
This clash will be one for the history books.
