Jennifer Lehane, Daina Moorehouse and Grainne Walsh are all just one win away from Olympic qualification as each won through to the final round at the qualification tournament in Bangkok.
25-year-old Jennifer Lehane (54kg), who's only been boxing for five years after a long period training in other combat sports, defeated Ukraine's Anastasiia Kovalchuk on Saturday with a 5-0 win which the judge scored 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28,30-27. On Sunday she faces Hanna Lakotar of Hungary.
22-year-old Daina Moorehouse (50kg) won a unanimous victory against Guatemala's Aylin Jamez in her second bout of the tournament Saturday, scored 27-30 by every judge.
"A dominant display and unanimous victory from Ireland's 50kg 'pocket rocket' Daina Moorehouse. One win away from an Olympic quota spot and will enter the last bout full of confidence," noted High Performance Director Tricia Heberle.
Moorehouse will face Bulgaria's Zlatislava Chukanova on Sunday.
Grainne Walsh (66kg), too, is close to an Olympic ticket after a unanimous decision dominant victory over Cote d'Ivoire Sedja Sanogo. She faces Armenia's Ani Hovesepyan on Sunday.
