Rhasidat Adeleke claimed victory at the Big 12 Championships in Oklahoma over the weekend. The 20-year-old ran 50.58, beating her University of Texas teammate, Kennedy Simon (51.22) to claim top spot. This was Adeleke's second 400M title at the Big 12 Conference, having won the title for Texax in in Lubbock, Texas in February.

It continues the astonishing trajectory and consistency from Adeleke who set a new Irish record in the 400 metres last February, clocking 49.90 seconds with another astonishing performance in her only her second outdoor race of the season.
Remarkably, just a few hours earlier, the Dublin sprinter also ran the third leg in the 4x100m, helping Texas to an NCAA record of 41.89. Next month, Adeleke will compete at the NCAA Championships in Texas. She will face NCAA indoor champion, Britton Wilson, who recorded an NCAA record of 49.13 over the weekend.

US sprinter Britton Wilson who is making the transition from hurdles to flat, set a PB 49.40 in the 400m heats on Friday before improving to 49.13 in the final. It's Wilson’s fourth consecutive sub-50-second run – a streak that started with her North American indoor record of 49.48 set when winning the NCAA indoor title in March. Just an hour later, Wilson contested her specialist event, the 400m hurdles, and won that by two seconds in 53.28, just 0.2 shy of her lifetime best, to achieve the best ever one-day double for the 400m hurdles and flat.
She now moves to 17th on the world all-time list for the 400m, which is higher than her ranking in the hurdles (24th).
