On Wednesday Sarah Lavin won her 60m hurdle heat in just 8.02 seconds at the 2023 Aarhus Sprint'N'Jump in Denmark, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze event.
8.02 seconds is the fastest-ever season opener for the Limerick hurdler, and her second-fastest time ever; she was only .05 seconds from her personal best of 7.97 seconds.
It also marks the eighth fastest time run in the world this year.
The result is promising for Lavin and her coach Noelle Morrissey as they look ahead to the European Athletics Indoor Championships in March.
