Sophie O'Sullivan (Ballymore Cobh AC) shined today (July 2) at the 123.ie National Junior and U23 Championships, winning gold in both the 800m and 1500m.
Just a week after contributing to Ireland's win and promotion to division two at the European Team Championships, the 21-year-old won the 800m in 2.10:04, followed by Lucy Holmes (West Waterford AC) in 2.11.82.
Her winning time in the 1500m was 4.27.02, a second ahead of Niamh Carr (Dublin City Harriers, 4.28.30). Sophie's legendary mother Sonia O'Sullivan held the Irish u23 1500m record for over 30 years until it was broken by Sarah Healy last year.

O'Sullivan, who studies in the U.S. at the University of Washington, will now be setting her sights on the European u23 Championships taking place in Finland in mid-July.
