In Pictures: Looking Back At The Greatest Women’s Boxing Match Of All Time

On 30 April 2022, history was made at Madison Square Garden in New York City. When Ireland’s boxing legend Katie Taylor faced the fierce Puerto Rican fighter Amanda Serrano, the world did not know that they were about to witness the greatest women’s boxing fight ever.

It was the first women’s boxing match to headline MSG, and both Serrano and Taylor became the first female boxers to make $1 million each for a single match.

Given that it’s been two years since this historic event, it’s worth a throwback to that day.

Let’s look back at the nail-biting fight through some Sportsfile snaps.

Taylor narrowly edged a split decision victory in the lightweight fight, and is currently the undisputed champion at light-welterweight, with Serrano stepping up a weight class to make her claim for the belts. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will have a rematch that will be streamed live on Netflix, as the co-main event to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson on July 20th.

The bout will take place in the Dallas’ AT&T Stadium in Texas, and even though it is listed as a co-main event, no doubt fans will want to tune in to watch h this sequel which is bound to be epic.
