Adeleke and Flanagan set new Irish records in New York

Rhasidat Adeleke (300m) and Roisin Flanagan (2 Mile) were in record breaking form Sunday evening at the prestigious Millrose Games in New York.

Adeleke (Tallaght AC) set a new Irish 300m record with a second placed 36.42 to better her own Irish 300m record of 36.87 which she had set in January 2022.

The performance continues a remarkable start to the 2024 season for Adeleke who has already broken Irish indoor records at 60m (7.15A), 200m (22.49A), and now 300m (36.42).

The Tallaght sprinter lowered her own 60m mark to 7.15A back on January 20, the same day that she broke her old 200m record of 22.52 with a second placed 22.49A behind training partner Julien Alfred.

Finn Valley’s Roisin Flanagan clocked a 9:36.70 indoor record in the 2 mile race. Flanagan finished 11th in a blisteringly fast race which went the way of Scotland’s Laura Muir in 9:04.84 after initial race winner Medina Eisa of Ethiopia was disqualified.
