Ireland Secure Victory Over Scotland In ODI Series

Saturday, 21 OctoberIreland Women secured a victory against Scotland, ultimately claiming the ODI series 2-1 in the Ireland vs Scotland tournament at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground in Spain.

Opting to bat first, Ireland set an imposing target of 240 runs, with Leah Paul’s resilient knock of 70 runs anchoring the innings. Support from Laura Delany (41 runs) and Amy Hunter (37 runs) further bolstered the Irish total. Delany also reached a milestone, earning 1000 ODI runs for Ireland.

Scotland’s bowlers put up a valiant effort, with Hannah Rainey’s remarkable five-wicket haul being the standout performance. Chasing a target of 240 runs, Scotland’s batting lineup encountered resistance from a disciplined Ireland bowling attack. Despite Kathryn Bryce’s impressive 83 runs and contributions from Priyanaz Chatterji (32 runs), Scotland fell short, ultimately bowled out for 206 runs in 49 overs.

Arlene Kelly’s four-wicket haul and Cara Murray’s three-wicket contribution were instrumental in securing the victory for the Irish.

The thrilling contest culminated with Ireland clinching a 33-run victory in the final match, marking a remarkable comeback after conceding the first match to Scotland.
