23-year-old Mona McSharry has won two medals at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Budapest this weekend: silver in the 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

A very successful weekend for Mona McSharry saw the Irish swimmer claim 🥈 and 🥉 at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Budapest.

McSharry is the Irish record holder for both events. On Sunday the Sligo native swam 30.41 in the 50m, behind only Italian Benedetta Pilato’s 30.04. Belarusian Alina Zmushka too bronze with 30.53.
On Saturday Pilato had also been the victor in the 100m breaststroke with 1:05.83. In second place was Tes Schouten of the Netherlands with 1:06.29, while McSharry’s 1:06.32 ensured her third place.
McSharry, who has already qualified for the Paris Olympics, won gold this summer in the 50m breaststroke at the European u23 Swimming Championships.
