Louise and Lucy Quinn to stay at Birmingham City

Republic of Ireland internationals Louise and Lucy Quinn both extended their deals with Birmingham City by two years, it was announced earlier this week.

33-year-old defender Louise Quinn has over a hundred caps for Ireland and was part of the Peamount United team that qualified for the last 32 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2011. She later played for Eskilstuna United in Sweden and Arsenal in England.

She transferred to Birmingham City in 2021 and was quickly named captain. She has scored 11 goals in her 57 appearances for the club in the 2 years since.

29-year-old midfielder Lucy Quinn has 14 caps for Ireland. She opened the scoring in her international debut in Ireland’s 2021 International Friendly win over Australia in Tallaght stadium.

She has made a total of 96 appearances for the Blues, having played for them from 2017-2019. Last season she scored 9 goals across 28 games, picking up the club’s Goal of the Season for a strike against Sheffield United.

Both women’s contracts now extend to 2025.

Both Quinns will feature in Vera Pauw’s World Cup side after Ireland’s first-ever qualification. Ireland’s opening game is against co-hosts Australia on July 20.

Lucy and Louise Quinn were also on the squad for yesterday’s (July 6) 0-3 International Friendly defeat to France.
