Jin Young Ko Ties Record For Most Weeks At The Top Of The Rolex Rankings

Jin Young Ko has tied Lorena Ochoa’s record of the most weeks at the top of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

The fifteen-time LPGA Tour winner has been at the top of the rankings for the past 158 weeks, since July 2019, tying the record set by Ochoa from 2007 – 2010.

Since 2019, she has had to battle against big golf names such as Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko and Atthaya Thitikul to retain her status at the top of the rankings.

A wrist injury last season led to a difficult few months for Ko, but she ended a year-long wait for a trophy in March when she claimed the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Should the South Korean star maintain her position at the top during the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club this week, she will break the record for the longest tenure as Rolex Rankings No. 1. A win on Sunday would also see her clinch her first Women’s PGA Championship title and her third Major.

With two major wins under her belt and two triumphs this season, including winning her third Cognizant Founders Cup in four years last month at Upper Montclair Country Club, Ko is a force to be reckoned with.
