The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, a 10k road race held annually during the June bank holiday weekend in Dublin city centre, stands as the world’s largest event of its kind. Since its inception in 1983, where 9,000 women participated, the event has grown significantly. In 2014, it reached a record attendance of 41,006 women, with a staggering total of 1.1 million women having taken part over its 40-year history.
This year’s marathon was a great success and saw over 20 000 women and girls take to the streets of Dublin to participate. This year also marked the 41st year of the event, which since its inception has raised over €226 million for charities in Ireland.
