Megan Connolly Back in Action After Injury

Irish International Megan Connolly is finally back in action after suffering fractured ribs and a bruised kidney during Ireland’s World-Cup qualifier win over Finland Sept. 1.

The midfielder played as a half-time substitute for Brighton & Hove Albion in their  3-3 draw with Liverpool.

The 25-year-old Cork star was forced to miss Ireland’s last qualifier with Slovakia as well as the play-off win against Scotland- although she certainly celebrated the victory well at home, as a video taken by her brother shows:

She also missed Ireland’s friendly with Morocco last week.

Coach Amy Merricks praised Connolly’s resilience:

“She’s worked really hard, I’m really pleased for her to get herself back on the pitch. She helped steady the ship somewhat. Really pleased she got back in.”

On Instagram Connolly said simply, “Happy to be back.”
