Serena Williams Releases Her First Children’s Book

What can’t she do? Serena Williams has just released her first children’s book on September 27th. The book, titled “Adventures of Qai Qai ” is illustrated by Yesenia Moises and published by Macmillan publishers

The book follows a little girl who learns to believe in herself with the help of her best friend and doll, Qai Qai. This story is inspired by her daughter, Olympia, and the doll Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, gave her when she was two years old.

Olympia and the doll became inseparable. The couple wanted to share the shenanigans Qai Qai would get into, so they created an Instagram for the doll in August 2018. With the help of Invisible Universe, they were able to bring their doll to life through a story.

It was very clear the numbers of people that this doll would affect. Everyone was excited to hear about the adventures and stories the doll will tell.

“Storytime is such an important pillar of our bedtime routine, like so many others around the world,” Williams, 41

Ohanian explains how important it was to them that their little girl have a black baby doll “if for no other reason than to just expose her to something that can hopefully break a cycle that we know exists.”

It’s important that all kinds of kids can resonate with the mischievous, brave and fun little girl doll to remind kids to just have fun and dream with their imagination.

Serena Williams is a tennis legend who may have played her last professional match in the US Open and lost against Australian, Ajla Tomljanovic. She said in August how she wanted to evolve away from Tennis to focus more on her family and some other business interests.

The tennis legend has had an eventful few months. Besides an incredible week in the US Open, she has walked with vogue in New York’s Fashion Week as well as running her own venture capital firm. This perfect story-time book is just the cherry on top for WIlliams.
