Following an appeal, the decision has been upheld by the Camogie Association’s Transfer Hearing and Disciplinary Committee.

Earlier this week, Cork Camogie manager, Matthew Twomey confirmed they would appeal the decision which otherwise would have ruled Thompson would for today’s All-Ireland semi-final against Waterford at Croke Park, as well as the final should they progress.

“At present she’s suspended for two matches,” said Twomey after confirming the County will appeal the ban. “There is an option for us to appeal that, which obviously we have to do.

“Any more than that I don’t know, it’s up in the air a bit. We just have to see how that process goes and hopefully have her available for the Waterford game.

According to the Irish Examiner, Cork were successful in their appeal  on the basis that the referee reported Thompson under the incorrect rule used under the Camogie Association’s guidelines.
