There were emotional scenes this week after Armagh’s Amy Mulholland was the number 83 pick in the AFLW draft. She will play for Western Australian side Fremantle.

Mulholland’s addition to the Western Australia side now increases the Irish influence over in the league up to 21 players.

The former Armagh player moved to Perth back in 2020 for non-football reasons. She spent the 2021 season playing for the Wembley Amateurs where she kicked 48 goals in 12 games.
A year later she moved up to the reserve league where she played with Subiaco.

Her performances have stood out so much that Mulholland will join two other Irish players on the Fremantle Dockers: Leitrim star Aine Tighe, who recently signed an extension with the team, and, new addition, Meath All-Ireland winner Orlagh Lally.
