Leah McCourt Records Her 6th Career Win At Bellator 267

The Northern Ireland fighter beat Jessica Borga at the London event last night.

Leah McCourt put a sixth career victory into the history books last night, securing a unanimous points victory over America’s Jessica Borga at Bellator 267.

The Belfast native now holds a 6-1 win to lose ratio and will be angling for a featherweight title shot with current champion Cris Cyborg.

While the first round didn’t go her way in Wembley’s SSE Arena, McCourt steadied the ship to claw the contest back.

Tiring her USA opponent out over the rounds the 29 year old eventually cruised to success, with a score of 30-27 on one judge’s card and 29-28 on the remaining two come the last bell.

Speaking on Instagram last night McCourt reflected on how her spirituality helped her in the run up and in her performance.

“All hail King Jesus, the name above all names. I felt the power of prayer this week” she said.

“So many highs in public but many more lows behind closed doors to get here!”

“What another unbelievable experience and week with my team and the Bellator Team and all the staff. Thank-you Jessica for the tough fight. That London crowd was insane”

She also took the opportunity to call for another shot in the octagon shortly, commenting that she is “fresh and ready to go on the Dublin card in 4weeks.”
