Nadia Power stormed to victory at the Motonet GP in Espoo, Finland where she ran a season’s best and clocked her third fastest ever time in the 800m.
Power, who is an 800m U23 European Championship bronze medallist, ran 2:03.29 at the Leppävaara stadium where she looked mighty impressive and finished strong to take victory.

Prior to lockdown in March, Power secured the Indoor Senior 800m title as she was building towards a charge for the Tokyo Olympics. As a result of the Covid-19 restrictions and sporting suspensions, the entire athletics calendar was obliterated.
However, the Templeogue AC runner maintained her training during lockdown and returned back to track in early June. On her first competitive race back, on July 26th, Power competed in the Moyne AC Summer Games. Power crossed the line in first place with a time of 2:05.1 – missing out on the €500 time bonus by 0.1 of a second.
Next up for the talented runner is the Paavo Nurmi Games, also in Finland. Power is set to compete at the event next Tuesday.
2016 Olympian Michelle Finn also competed at the Motonet GP in Espoo. Finn ran home to victory in the steeplechase in 9:41.62. This was Finn’s third fastest time of her career.
The Leevale AC athlete returned to Ireland earlier this year after the pandemic forced her to leave the Melbourne Track Club in Australia. The lifestyle of eat, sleep, run repeat whilst down-under saw Finn record a lifetime best in the 3000m steeplechase as she recorded 9.38.04 – this remains the 2020 world leading time.
