Racing at O’Briens Bridge: Limerick & Schools Regattas

The Limerick Regatta took place on Saturday with 388 crews participating in the event.

The final weekend of racing in April took place at O’Briens Bridge, Limerick, which saw some top class performances from the crews and clubs around the country. O’Briens Bridge offers a great opportunity to get experience in laned racing, preparing for the National Championships in July.
First up was Limerick Regatta on Saturday, 28th of April, with 388 crews participating in the event. Many junior crews participated from J14 coxed quads to seven competing J18 eights, but the regatta lacked the participation of any women’s entries at senior or novice level. In 2017, the regatta saw a number of women’s novice crews entered in both the novice eight and coxed quad events – fingers crossed they’ll be back in 2019!
Both the J15 double sculls and J14 coxed quad events were run as several finals, rewarding many young competitors. Twenty two entered the junior 15 double sculls and thirteen crews entered the women’s J14 coxed quad event with the winners being as follows:
